Sylvia Wiik

Sylvia Irene (Niemi) Wiik, a resident of Norwood, died Saturday, February 14th, 2009 at her home in Norwood.  She was 91.  Sylvia was born November 27, 1917 in Walpole, MA, the daughter of the late Frank and Irene Amanda (Jarvinen) Niemi.  She graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1935 and worked as a receptionist for Holliston Mills in Norwood.  She was the wife of the late Urho Wiik and is survived by her two sons, Richard P. Wiik, and his wife Patricia, of Nashua, New Hampshire, and Ronald F. Wiik of Norwood; her two daughters, Irene S. Ingemi, and her husband Michael, of Norwood, and Barbara L. Brierley, and her husbnd David, of Norwood; and her five grandchildren, Brian Wiik, Paul and Amanda Ingemi, and Mark and Adam Brierley.  Visiting hours will be held Friday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the May Funeral Home, 85 Nichols Street, Norwood.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral Saturday, February 21st at 10 AM at the First Congregational Church of Norwood.  Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood.  In lieu of flowers donations to the Music Program at the First Congregational Church of Norwood, 100 Winter Street, Norwood, MA 02062 would be appreciated.
