Tsu-teng (Tom) Loo, a resident of Fox Hill Village in Westwood, formerly of St. James, New York, died peacefully at his home in Westwood on Saturday, January 11th, surrounded by his loving family. He was 89. Tsu-teng was born October 13,1936 in Tainan, Taiwan, a son of Chin Chen and Mu-Tong Loo.
He graduated from Kaohsiung Medical University in Taiwan, completed an internship at Queens General Hospital, and then a residency in Psychiatry at Pilgrim State Psychiatric Center. He then worked for the New York State Office of Mental Health as a psychiatrist and administrator for many years. Later, he pursued specialty certification in Forensic Psychiatry. He was board certified in both Adult and Forensic Psychiatry.
He was also a Colonel in the US Army Reserves and served his country during Operation Desert Storm.
Tsu-teng is survived by his beloved wife Le-chu (Teng) Loo; his daughter, Dr. Paulina Loo of Newton; his two sons, Dr. Daniel Loo of Newton, and Dr. Timothy Loo of Wellesley; as well as his six grandchildren, Andrew, Zenzen, Alexandra, and Serena Loo, and Matthew and Grace Gaddipati.
A memorial Service will be held at Newton Cemetery & Arboretum, 791 Walnut Street, Newton Center, MA 02459-1719 on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 10:00 AM.
