Virginia “Ginny” Holladay left her Foxborough home early Monday morning, November 1 st , All Saints’ Day, to meet her heavenly Father after enjoying 81 years on this earth. Born on Christmas Day, 1928, to the late Quinter and Louisa Royer of East Canton, Ohio, Ginny was one of six siblings. After graduating from East Canton High School in 1945, she left her close family and small town life and headed for the big city of Chicago, where she attended Moody Bible Institute, met her husband Paul, and gave birth to her three children. The family moved with Paul’s job to Norwood, MA in 1967. There Ginny devoted herself to her family and her local church, where she served on various committees and directed the choir through the remainder of her days. She started working as a typesetter at Boston University Medical School in 1976 and retired in 1993. Ginny loved life and relished time with family and friends playing card games, working jig-saw puzzles, singing, and enjoying each other’s company!
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Paul (1978), sister-in-law Jane Royer (2010) and sister Madalyn (2010). Ginny is survived by her three grown children: Kathy Holladay of Minnesoda, Kristi (Weimin) Feng of Wakefield, MA, and Paul Jr. “PJ” (Julie, and daughter Grace) Holladay of Danvers, MA. All from Ohio are her brothers Bob Royer and Glenn (Jeanne) Royer, sisters Gerry Blile and Doris (Steve) Regas, brother-in-law Del Weckbacher, and a host of nephews and nieces. In addition, Ginny leaves behind her long-time friend Beverly Jennings and her children, Don, Jodi and Tim.
Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm on Thursday, Nov 4 th at Folsom Funeral Home, 649 High Street, Westwood. Virginia’s funeral will be at 11 am on Friday Nov 5 th at The United Church of Norwood. Donations may be made to The United Church of Norwood, 595 Washington Street, Norwood, MA 02062.
