William M McPhillips

William Mathew McPhillips, a resident of Hyde Park, passed peacefully at the age of 85 on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

William was born December 20, 1939 in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of John Francis and Helen A. (Main) McPhillips. He graduated from Hyde Park High School. After graduation he was inducted into the US Army in 1963 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1965. William worked for the US Post Office until his retirement in 2004. He was a member of the KC Golf League at the George Wright Golf Course in Hyde Park. Nothing made Bill happier than spending time with his beloved wife and family, especially his adoring grandchildren.

William is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Marie (Colello) McPhillips; his three daughters, Kim McPhillips of Hyde Park, Cheryl Botteri, and her husband William, of Walpole, Leanne McPhillips and Steven McInnis of Quincy; his brother, John N. McPhillips and Kathleen of Readville; his four cherished grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher , Brandon , and Hannah; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. He was the brother of the late James McPhillips and Lorraine, and Elizabeth McDonald. 

Visiting hours will be held Monday, December 8th from 4 to 7 pm at the Folsom Funeral Home, 87 Milton Street, Dedham. Relatives and friends will gather at the funeral home starting at 9 am on Tuesday, December 9th and proceed with us to St. Pius X Church, 101 Wolcott Road, Milton for his Mass of Christian Burial at 10 o clock. Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in William’s memory to the Jeanne Jugan Residence, Little Sisters of the Poor, 964 Main St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
